Did You Forget To Be Fun?

GK Chesterton said, “Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.” You witness to the sovereignty of God over your problems when you enjoy life, get goofy, play with your kids…despite it all.

Recently, I heard a testimony from a girl who was praying and kept getting an image of a rollercoaster. She was asking God, “What does this mean?” “What are you trying to tell me?” And then it hit her! FUN! She realized God was telling her to be fun and have fun.

Life can be heavy. There is enough seriousness to go around. Between the news, work, paying bills, and getting your oil changed, we all have enough serious. Even in our faith, it’s easy to take things too seriously. We enter church and prayer with reverence, we contemplate the scriptures in a holy manner, and through it all…we forget to have fun! God is delighted when we enjoy his creation. He is overjoyed when we enjoy him.

When we’re able to enjoy life and have fun, we are able to be a witness to those around us because we can show the world that the joy of the Lord is our strength. He is bigger than our circumstances, he reigns over all our responsibilities, and his grace is sufficient for every need we encounter. We glorify God when we have fun.

The struggles and trials we face are real. And they are tough. But Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time for joy! So take a moment today and every day to find something to be grateful for so you can find joy in the midst of the daily grind.
